Richmond Perrine Giants - 2014 Pee Wee Theme Character National Dance Champions
Greater Miami is proud to present the 2014 Pee Wee Theme Character National Dance Champions the Richmond Perrine Giants!  This awesome team rocked the HP Field House with their Grease Theme and as a National Dance Champion were also awarded the opportunity to perform on ESPN3! The team worked super hard with their coaches to compete in this new Theme Character Dance division. The focus of this division is to tell a story through dance, costuming, music and props. Not only did they receive 1st place, but also the High Score in Theme Composition!

Big Shout Out to the coaches & coordinators that volunteer for this team as well as the parents supporting them, for making this season a memorable one for their participants. Cape Jr Marlins PeeWee Level 2 Medium Co-Ed -- National Champions

This team was amazing!!! They were the first Co-Ed Team (3 or more male cheerleaders) at Cape Jr. There were 23 cheerleaders on the team -- that from the very first day of August, worked amazing together, supported each other and knowing that having a Co-Ed team made them special.

The kids were a little disappointed that in their Co-Ed division that there wasnt competition...but that didnt stop them from practicing every night, performing at every game like they were 1 of 20 teams!!

The coaching staff, Head Coach Amy Glasgow and her assistants were beyond dedicated and sp in love with this team! Each and every one on this team, cheerleaders, Staff and parents deserved the honor of being National Champions!!

JPW Small Level 1 – North Fort Myers Knights

This is a young JPW team.  All but one are 1st year JPW Cheerleaders.   The majority are 9 years old.   This was the first time Head Coach Jen Hardman advanced to Nationals. N. Ft. Myers Jr. Football is celebrating 50 years this year.

This is the first time in our history we have been National Champions.  We are so proud of our Jr. Pee Wee 11 Cheerleaders.

JM Medium Level 3 – Normandy Cowboys

National Championship comes back home to Normandy Athletic Association in Greater Jax!

Normandy Athletic Association now boasts THREE National Championship wins since 2007 under the direction of coaches Christina Brown and Chrissie Rood.   Their Jr. Midget "Heartbreakers" stole the hearts of the Nation bringing home a First Place win in the Medium PW3 division on Wed, December 10th, which was just 10 days after they were crowned GRAND CHAMPIONS at the Southeast Regional Cheer and Dance Competition in Kissimmee.

Normandy Athletic Association Cheerleaders are no strangers to competing at the National level.  All of their competing teams have continued to dominate at the Southeast Regional Championships and have represented the Southeast every year at Nationals traditionally placing in the top 3 in the nation year after year.  What is the key to their success.  Coach Chrissie Rood explains "Being a successful organization starts at the top and works its way down.  At Normandy we have the full commitment from our board, to our ACDC all the way through our parents and kids.  Our Jr. Midget team, comprised of 16 kids, 3 field coaches (Christina, Chrissie and Kassie) and 2 junior coaches (Taylor and Alex) who all worked hard each and every day.  The kids were always working to increase their tumbling skills and stunting skills.  I have been coaching Pop Warner for 18 years and have coached all kinds of kids at all different ages.  The one thing I found that always works for us is keeping our parents involved.  They love to know what is going on and how they can help make our team better.   At Normandy, we are not just a cheerleading team we are family."

It means a great deal to the coaches to see these kids succeed.  "We as coaches have fire and passion for what we do and it ignites the same fire and passion in our kids" says coach Christina Brown. "What we want more than anything is for our cheerleaders to see how much we love cheerleading and love coaching so that they'll want to give back and coach their own teams one day."

The Normandy Cheerleading organization is led by ACDC Melanie Shurling.  "She has built a legacy." says Robin Cuevas, Secretary, NAA.   "She knows what works and what doesn’t and we all respect her decisions as our leader.   When you have a successful organization already in place, cheerleaders want to become a part of that legacy and typically stay throughout their duration in Pop Warner cheer.  It's not uncommon for girls to stay together from Tiny Mite to Midget and then come back as a Jr. Coach.    When you have that kind of chemistry over a lifetime together, magic happens, every time!”

When asking Melanie Shurling, ACDC how she feels about being the leader of such a successful organization she had this to say, "I am extremely proud and excited for all of these young ladies and their coaching staff.  They have all worked really hard this year and are truly Champions in my eyes.  Staff, Cheerleaders and families are 100% dedicated to Normandy Athletic Association and the Pop Warner program and it shows in their performances! Great Job Ladies! SO PROUD OF YOU!"

MIDGET Small Level 1 – Gainesville Gators

The Gainesville Gator Midget PW1 Cheerleaders Placed 1st at the National Cheer and Dance Competition at on December 12, 2014, additionally they also received the Spirit of Sportsmanship Award.

Wow! What a year it has been for the Gators! They brought their A game to our League, Region and now to the National cheer competition. In addition to doing a great job with their competition routine, they represented the City of Gainesville, the Putnam Athletic League and the Southeast Region well.

The coaching staff is very proud of them as well as their parents, the City of Gainesville, Putnam and the Southeast Region. Go – Gators!
